At 11h this morning a cellphone video captured in an industrial area shows a yellowish cloud rising over a building in North York, a suburb in Toronto, Canada. Shortly after, Toronto Fire Services members were dispatched to a hazmat call at an industrial building at the corner of Gail Grove and Arrow Road in relation to the presence of the cloud that appeared to be forming from a toxic substance. An upgrade to a hazmat (hazardous materials) incident level 3 was made and an entire neighborhood was evacuated as per precaution in the Highway 400 and Sheppard area. Road closures were in effect until 3h00 pm today and left traffic in a gridlock from Weston Road to Jane Street. Exceptionally, the entire Highway 400 was closed for all southbound and northbound traffic causing huge delays around the vicinity as a precaution again for motorists. Toronto paramedics also gathered at the scene and remained in the area after the fact to ensure public safety as seen with a large mass casualty command unit spotted at the corner of Sheppard and Rivalda. After analysis it was deemed that a spill had happened at a fertilizer plant building at the end of Gail Grove causing the turmoil. Despite the public scare TFS stated that the substance would dissipate and not cause danger or threat to the residents and workers in that area.
