Abbotsford: Mudslide risk triggers evacuation order on Sumas Mountain 11-30-2021

Military troops were spotted building a sandbag barricade today on the Sumas Mountain ahead of potential mudslides. An alert for an evacuation was given at 7h pm tonight for more areas of the dangerous hilly residential zone. Soldiers set a dyke on Lower Sumas Mountain 300m east of the intersection of Carnarvon Court under pouring rain. This video shows drive-around footage filmed at the same period of the day in late afternoon under what is now known as the third atmospheric river of the 2021 BC floods. Houses in a threatening area have been evacuated after a mudslide struck and nearly avoided structures on Sunday near Whatcom Road and Sandringham Drive.
