Longueuil: One killed while running away from the cops 5-29-2025

Pending an official release, a serious incident this morning in Longueuil, Québec, Canada left one person dead when they were struck by a car at high rate of speed after fleeing the police. All 3 fast lanes in the Montréal direction were closed following the collision of the 132 on the south shore, trapping dozens of motorists behind who had to turn around in the opposite direction to leave. Unconfirmed reports suggest officers from the SPAL had lost track of a suspect in the area of St-Charles Street and Chambly Road as they can be heard asking us if we had seen anyone running in this video. All emergency crews including both SQ and SPAL members responded urgently this morning at about midnight after 911 callers reported having witnessed a person being struck by a vehicle at full freeway speeds at around 115 kmph or 70 mph in the westbound lanes of Highway 132 at the Chambly Road crossing pedestrian viaduct in Longueuil, a city on the south shore of Montréal. Upon arrival paramedics assessed one person who was declared dead on scene and whose body was covered by a privacy tarp in the left shoulder of the three-lane highway. Another ambulance was requested to attend by firefighters at the scene who evaluated the driver of the accident and deemed them in a state of shock. That ambulance can be seen further away next to an immobilized car thanks to aerial footage, helpful to understand the severity of MVC's like this one. According to the elevated footage shot early at the crash site, it appears the victim might have been struck near the viaduct, came to a rest nearly 100 meters further after being thrown by the car that came to a stop another 100 meters further. Both police services concerned in this incident were spotted in high numbers in the aftermath of the impact to investigate and to redirect traffic trapped by the closed lanes.
