Homicide in Canada is the broad definition of a person killing another and whether there is intent, is deliberated or premeditated or none of that, it still falls under the category of homicide. When the killing is not intended by the offender, this homicide is called "involuntary manslaughter" which is the lowest punishable type of homicides but one nonetheless. As per the Canadian criminal code, impaired driving causing death is a type of involuntary manslaughter called a "vehicular manslaughter" which is potentially what the female adult driver of a Nissan Altima who struck and killed a cyclist yesterday in Brampton is facing. Additionally the driver fled the scene which adds to the charges against her, both factors independently represent a possible punishment of jail time. The decision this driver took yesterday morning of driving impaired and running away after hitting that cyclist to death could cost her years in jail according to Canadian driving laws. The crash occurred Monday morning July 3rd 2023 at the corner of Humberwest Parkway and Ricardo Road in the Castlemore and Airport Rd area of Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
