One week has passed since the shooting death of Nooran Rezayi by a SPAL police officer in Longueuil, a suburb of Montréal, Québec, Canada. On Sunday September 21st police was called by neighbors who observed a group of youths walking in a peaceful residential suburb of Longueuil called St-Hubert. Upon arrival, the first officers at the scene had a brief encounter with some of the teenagers and one officer fired twice, killing the teen. Several investigations were triggered in the past 7 days among others a BEI case for police officers involved in deadly incidents and an SPVM investigation from nearby police service in Montréal. The Rezayi family hired an attorney and took part in a march yesterday after burying their son who they say was a kind person who was killed by the people trained to de-escalate a situation and protect the population. The BEI investigation has declared that no weapon were found at the scene and no evidence that any of the people had one in the first place. The officer responsible for what seems to be despicable and avoidable act of violence at the SPAL has been forced into a leave of absence for the time being. Several witness videos showing the early moments of the interaction between the teens and the police have been seized by the SPAL - Service de Police de l'Agglomération de Longeuil as per told to the relatives of the victim that they were not to publish or share them.
