At 1:30 this morning a 31 year old man identified as Joas Jean-Baptiste was gunned down in Longueuil, Canada. Police officers from the SPAL received the call of shots fired and were dispatched to an apartment at the corner of Toulouse and Desormeaux. Upon arrival they discovered the victim that had been shot up and paramedics from CETAM declared him dead on scene. At 3:00 this afternoon his body was removed from the building and transported by funeral services amidst a large safety perimeter. The Sûreté du Québec, a provincial police service, has taken the investigation in charge because of strong suspicions that this homicide is related to organized crime in the Greater Montréal. As explained by SQ media relation officer Catherine Bernard in an interview on site, their service takes over this type of investigation with their "Crimes Contre la Personne" unit. In a phone interview with CETAM media spokesperson Alexandre Barbeau, we learned that even though the patient was declared dead on scene, their paramedics still initiated a CPR protocol in an attempt to save the victim. Other unconfirmed information suggest that today's shooting involves some of the same people that took part in a mass shooting in Rivière-des-Prairies two days ago: https://youtu.be/20mWeaJzHEM that left three people dead. Locally known rapper Jerry Willer Jean-Baptiste or "Mackazoe" from a gang called "Proft Boy$" was killed Monday night in what is believed to be part of an ongoing conflict with a gang called "Zone 43". Both gangs have been going at one another in Montréal North, a violent suburb in the north eastern part of the city. No arrests have been made in any of the two cases and despite the RDP investigation being run by the SPVM as opposed to the Longueuil one, the SQ will also be involved in it. On August 8th, a 22 year old rapper Duckerns Pierre Clermont aka "Jeune Loup" was shot and killed while riding a bicycle on Cartier Street at the corner of Crémazie Boulevard in Montréal and what is the latest testimony of a rising gang violence in the region.
