Newmarket: Pre-arrival video of fire rapidly growing at townhouses 8-26-2021

At 8h pm on Thursday August 26th fire broke out on a second floor unit of a residential townhouse complex in Newmarket, Canada. Central York Fire Services along with York Regional Police were deployed urgently to the call at the corner of Maciver Blvd and Bathurst St. Early amateur vertical cell phone footage shows the first moments of the incident where a bystander is seen putting water from a garden hose onto the growing flames. Due to their rapid intervention, firefighters managed to overcome the start of the fire and prevent further spreading and damage. The intervention that coincides with a heavy long term heat wave was caused by a defective air conditioner unit and fortunately left no one injured.
