At 2h20 this morning Sunday Oct 5th fire broke out at a disaffected hockey arena in St-Constant, a city south of Montréal, Québec, Canada and triggered a large firefighting response. Over 12 hours of firefighting later and at 3h pm this afternoon firefighters are still applying water to the smoldering debris. Aerial images offer a troubling sight showing fire hose contaminated water runoff flowing downhill into a nearby creek while a bulldozer is working to rip apart outer walls of the structure. While operations were entirely run on an defensive mode to prevent entry crew's injuries at the unoccupied vacant building, a half-day uninterrupted water flow onto the building next to a river may seem like a questionable firefighting tactic. No injuries were reported during the incident that still has a portion of a commercial shopping plaza closed to vehicular traffic at the corner of Highway 132 and Blvd des Écluses.
