St-Henri: Difficult access to house ablaze is a challenge for SIM 3-22-2024

Midnight this morning and all hell broke loose at the intersection of Notre-Dame and Sainte-Marguerite in St-Henri, a neighborhood in Montréal, Québec, Canada. A fire raging in a house and spreading to an adjacent structure had the incident upgraded to a second alarm and the entire boulevard shut down to traffic. Hydro crews shut power to the area to allow firefighters to operate safely. A large 115 foot high articulated platform dubbed T-Rex, the tallest ladder at the SIM fire department was deployed to provide crucial lighting of the scene confined between crowded apartment buildings and storage structures. According to 911 audio scanner conversations, crews faced a house with the second story fully involved shortly after arrival. Firefighters also struggled with additional complication with frozen equipment due to extreme cold reported outside at this time.
