At 9h pm on Saturday June 5th a fire broke out at a large residential apartment building before quickly spreading into an uncontrollable inferno in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Flames grew as crews responded urgently and engaged in a working fire, only to later eventually upgrade the incident to a 5th alarm. On top of that, an alert called "Code Rouge" in French that means all hands on deck was given later that evening. Over one hundred people were displaced and over one hundred firefighters battled this blaze. The incident occurred at a wide three story apartment complex hosting numerous units at the corner of Brunswick Boulevard and Des Sources Boulevard in the Dollard-des-Ormeaux (DDO) neighborhood of the West Island of Montréal. A current heat wave in most of Eastern Canada, temperatures during the fire battle had crews suffering extreme heat. A difficult intervention was necessary to come about the long lasting burning fire on which firefighters kept putting water until the early hours of the morning. Despite the tragic material loss no serious injuries were fortunately reported.
